On 11 July 2017 the Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Inquiry Panel charged trainer, Mr Michael Patterson under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:

That you, Michael Patterson, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Embellish’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race nine at Casino on 21 April 2017 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.

The prohibited substance was arsenic.

Following a denial of the charge and submissions from Mr Patterson, the GRNSW Inquiry Panel determined that Mr Patterson breached the rules and imposed a fine of $750.
